Ke$ha
Get $leazy Tour
Showbox SODO - Feb 16, 2011

Her first headliner tour!

Front
$weaty $leazy $tage Baby!
 FSB VIP Package Tickets!

Review 2/19/11 by Art Rusche

Ke$ha, yes the new pop singer with a dollar sign in her name started her first headliner tour and her second stop was at the Showbox SODO, I had to get FSB tickets!  Ke$ha came on the scene in 2009 when she sang the round in Flo Rida's number one single, "Right Round."  She soon had a mega solo hit Tik Tok and the release of her first album AnimalKe$ha has a unique voice that sounds likes she's "having a good time".  A heavy dance beat with crazy "sleazy" lyrics make the persona Ke$ha! Her second album Cannibal was released last November with the chart-topping lead single, "We R Who We R".

I had bought two GA tickets the morning they went on sale and a couple hours later it was sold out! They still had VIP packages for sale that included "early admission" so I had bought one of those tickets too at a premium price.  I had no takers for my two GA tickets so I sold them on Craigslist. :o

I arrived at the Showbox at 5:30 then picked up my VIP lanyard for early admission and got in line at 5:30.... The hour and a half lineup outside was cold and all the poor girls in their skimpy Ke$ha outfits were freezing... me too! Thank goodness it didn't rain!
The early entrance line got me in around 7pm and I was able to get up on the 2 foot berm of the stage barricade near the center! I couldn't get a hold onto the front rail. The next wave of people were from the bar lineup and then it began to fill up fast! When the outside line was admitted, about 10 minutes later, the crush was on and in moments we were in a pressure cooker and wishing for the outside cold!

During the entrance check they checked my Olympus SP-500UZ. They looked at the lens, made sure it wasn't detachable and let me in~~. The guy in front of me had a big professional camera case and said Ke$ha wouldn't let professional photographers get between the stage and barricade, where they usually have access. ..  He said he was going to leave after 4 songs. Just before the opening act, he took out his camera and security immediately said he could not have that big lens in the audience and told him he had to take pictures from  the back! A scoop for me to get the close up shots!!! As soon as he tried to leave others squeezed in.

The heat and pressure started to build up and before the concert started, two girls passed out right behind me.....  We quickly summoned security and the crowd lifted them over the barricade!

As some of the kids around me started vying for positions to get in front of me, I conserved my energy and told them they should too....  I had snuck in a water bottle. :))

The opening act was Beardo "an irreverent fusion of rap, punk, and rock n' roll that uses big beats out of date drum machines and loud classic guitar riffs".  Jeramy Gritter was the one man band that tried to "warm up" the audience which at times chanted "Ke$ha, Ke$ha, Ke$ha".
Several people that were around me at the beginning had disappeared as they surcomed to the heat and pressure!   A father that brought his daughter also passed out, way to go dad!   Ah.. The Mosh pit!

Ke$ha took the stage amongst thick theatrical smoke opening with Sleazy which set the stage for the night!  She started her "Get $leazy" tour the night before in Portland and was very pumped and energetic all night long!  She did a few of her "auto tune" songs and rocked them all!  The songs where she wasn't using auto tune, she sounded great too, right in pitch! It's just that she has such a unique, do I say "Sleazy" sound to her voice that fits perfectly with all her songs!!

For a good three quarters of her set I was able to stay near the front center and then in a ten second push I was squeezed out of the inside like a pimple!  Oh I needed that though!!  I could breathe and I drank the rest of my water!!  I was totally soaked!  I was wetter than night skiing in the rain!! But there's no Gortex in the Mosh! I had already tossed my coat and outer shirt onto the floor and just had my athletic sports skin on.  Take it off! ;)
I love today's youth! The girls were all cool and smart. The boys, not so... ;)  The girls first took pity on me being crushed in the mosh then they realized I was a pro and I outlasted them all!

I took lots of video and over 700 shots.
                      Your Love Is My Drug!

Just before the encores many kids left the floor, I'm sure because of curfew! ;)  I was then able to squeeze myself back closer to the front. Ke$ha played all her songs great and the SOLD OUT crowd and I loved every minute!

At the end she broke a big piñata and candy and Ke$ha Condoms popped out!

I've got drum sticks, setlists, guitar picks, posters, t-shirts and signs from concerts but never condoms!

Afterward, I retrieved my coat and shirt from the front. Not too worse for the wear!  I stood on a stair to take this picture of the aftermath and then I heard "Sir, please get down from there!" Knowing I was probably the only "Sir" there, I got down.

When I got home all my clothes came off in one big wet pile.  I found glitter all over my body from all the glitter guns that went off and I lost 5 lbs!

Do I trust her LifeStyles condoms?

I loved the performance and
had a great time!!

My must see my  YouTube video of Tik Tok
to get the feeling of the Mosh.
