Natasha
Bedingfield is a member of the
new British Girl Invasion. Coming on the
scene in 2004 she won a Grammy Award nomination
for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" for "Unwritten".
In 2008 she had a hit Pocketful of Sunshine,
which was recently featured in Emma Stone's
movie Easy A. When I heard she was
coming to the Showbox at the Market,
I was one of the first to get tickets. Her new
album Strip Me is real good! Lots of
great catchy tunes! |
It was a Sunday evening concert, doors were to
open at 6:30 so two hours before, Cindra and I
were in the Green Room and we got our #1 entry
cards from the bartender 9see picture at right)!
I was getting the pre-concert jitters real bad.
I couldn't eat and drink. I had to take a 20
minute break and get fresh air and walked
through downtown before we were let in! When
the doors opened from the Green Room we scooted
to the very front of the stage.... my jitters
finally went away. This concert attending is
becoming an addiction! I need
intervention.
The first performer was Andy Grammer
fronting a three piece band out of LA. He had
lots of energy and stage presence. His songs
were light, upbeat and he had a good time
singing! I loved his performance! |
Kate Voegel
singer-songwriter, musician, and actress on
One Tree Hill opened the second
card. She had a polished act but I didn't think she had the
complete stage presence as Andy did before her. She went
through her set without too much excitement..... humm? |
The stage of the Showbox at the Market was
cleared of all the gear of the previous bands
which opened a large area for Natasha to use.
She was right in front of us at center stage and sounded great!
Her setlist
(see the list on the left) included several songs from her great new album
Strip Me. Natasha had great stage presence, interacting with the crowd often and playing both sides of
the stage and of course being FSB was great!!! |
I frequently was pointing at her with the beat,
getting her to point at me while taking this picture on the
left with the
other hand!! I then started waving the peace sign with
the beat and then waving the peace sign forward into a two
finger point toward her.
She actually commented to me
after a song, "What does that mean?" All I could do say
was "I love you???".
Oh Boy how corny!
That's what I
get for being Front Stage Baby!!
|
We had a great time and once
again the thrill of FSB takes it to a whole new level of
experience!! Natasha sounded very good, her band was top
notch and she connected with the audience! Her setlist covered most of her hits
and she did no
encore. |
